VetsWeb Animal Clinic general practices during the COVID-19 - outbreak
Veterinary services and pet supply sales have been deemed an essential service and we will therefore not shut down completely during this time but aim to provide sales and services to the best of our ability. We do however need to minimize contact and implement practices that ensure a reduced chance of transmission at our premises.
For that reason the following practices will be implemented during the pandemic:
- No person will be allowed on the premises without prior arrangement. An access control gate will be installed, which will remained locked to the general public
- We will disinfect the access panel and gate frequently, but please also ensure that you disinfect your hands every time that you need to access the premises, as we cannot be held accountable for the sterility of a public entrance
- Our office hours will be cut to 8:00-13:00 Mon-Fri for consults and placing orders
SALES AND ORDERS
- No over-the-counter-sales will be allowed. Please contact us for sales and make use of our online shop as far as possible. We will aim to have a catalogue of our non-scheduled medicines available as soon as possible and to make it available in various forms eg. Downloadable/viewable on our website, on the online store, as a .pdf that will be emailed and WhatsApp’ed to clients, with a link next to our entrance and have our online shop up and running as soon as possible
- Collection of orders will only take place after confirmation; no one may “Wait until order is made up”
- Please note that we will have a zero-return policy during this period, due to bio-hazard as well as logistical reasons
- Scheduled and chronic medicines will also be available by arrangement during this time, with the exception of not being on a catalogue
- Order procedure:
- All orders are to be placed by electronic means (any text – sms, WhatsApp, email) – see bottom of page for all contact details
- We will confirm availablity and price by qoute/performa invoice
- Payment is to be done by electronic means and POP sent
- Upon receiving the POP, your order will be picked and packed, wiped with disinfectant and left in the collection area on the front porch of the clinic; additional arrangements will be made in case of cold-chain products
- We will supply you with the access control code for the day so that your parcel may be collected by yourself, your representative or the courier company of your choice
- The collection slip attached to the parcel is to be filled, signed and dropped into the box supplied for the purpose
- When collections made, please try to avoid doing so when another client is busy collecting or dropping off as to minimise social contact
- Collection hours will not be unlimited – the gate will be double-locked completely preventing access during the night and on weekends, so please verify the collection time during your communication with us
CONSULTATIONS
- NO WALK-IN consultations, procedures or even emergencies will be allowed without prior arrangement! Make sure to contact us before hand and ensure that all arrangements are in place to avoid arriving at a locked gate
- If there is any logical alternative to bringing an animal for consultation, we will try to follow an alternative route eg. distance-consultation when possible, advice, dispensing of medicine and first-aid kits, sending foto’s of lesions etc.
- Elective procedures will be limited and booked by merit
- Consultation procedure:
- All examinations will be preceded by a consultation in writing (preferably by WhatsApp), wherein symptoms, history etc will be discussed
- Send us the details of the animal’s injury/ilness/situation by written electronic means. This ensures that we have a thorough record of the discussion between yourself and us, the easier to follow up on and to keep record of
- If advice and medicine will suffice, follow procedure set our in “Sales”
- If it is determined that an animal needs to be examined or treated, a time will be arranged, the access code to the gate will be given and the animal is to be left in the mobile cage on the clinic porch. The animal will be collected from the cage as soon as the client has left the premesis
- As soon as the animal is ready collection, you will be contacted to arrange collection from the drop-off cage again
- Please ensure that you keep to the appointed time, as the cage must be disinfected between patients and bottle-necking of drop-offs and collections need to be avoided and it must be avoided at all cost to have animals occupy the cage for extended periods
- Unfortunately no one will be alowed to wait on the premises whilst your animal is being examined or treated. Please keep this in mind and either return home or wait in you car in case of a quick procedure/exam
In short – before you come to us for anything, first contact us, preferably by WhatsAppand we can discuss procedures to follow, make arrangements etc.
